Beach Club Restaurant - new Winter Menu

The new Winter Menu has been released with some exciting new dishes! Newcomers on the "starters" include Tempura Prawns, Mozzarella au Gratin and Liver Paté.  The latter is a homemade Duck & Pork Liver Pate served with Plums in Port Wine sauce and Crackers. Also on the starters menu are two inovative dishes, the "Dunas Antipasti" and "Dunas Tapas", both for two people. On the "Fish & Seafood" section we now have a Portuguese Fish Casserole, Sea Bass in the Oven and Seafood Rice (for two) just to mention a few.
The Winter Menu still includes some old favourites like our "Prawns Al Guillho" and our "Chicken Piri-piri" with fries, salad and spicy sauce.

We proudly serve an excellent choice of Portuguese and international wines.

Gala dinner at the Beach Club

On 15th November, Dunas Douradas Beach Club hosted a gala dinner on behalf of the Portuguese Chamber in the UK. The Chamber works closely with the Portuguese and British governments and leading business associations to promote bi-lateral trade between Portugal and the UK.

The dinner hosted by Dunas Douradas Beach Club followed a golf tournament at the Quinta do Lago South course was truly a success. The event was attended by many prominent members from the local Algarve community, Lisbon and the UK.

Charity Bridge tournament at the Beach Club

Dunas Douradas Beach Club CEO, Evy Ougendal, presented the Quinta Jacintina Cup to the winners of the 3rd annual Charity Swiss Teams Event to be held at the Beach Club, at the end of a week-long "Bridge" extravaganza held throughout the week at Quinta Jacintina with the final day in the beautiful setting of the facilities at the Dunas Douradas Beach Club.

The event was attended by 76 participants, forming 19 teams of four in a duplicate tournament held over six rounds with scoring in the "Swiss Teams" format.

The event was in aid of the ACCA Children's Charity, that included a raffle and games organised by ACCA representative, Gwenda Daud.  Gwenda explained that the proceeds will be used to provide speech therapy sessions to local children in the Algarve.  

Dunas Douradas Beach Club also provided the lunch, coffee breaks and offered the first prize of bottles of champagne to the winning team.  Congratulations are due to the winners, to Marc the efficient and informed tournament director and to Sally Roberts and all of the team of organisers. 

We are looking forward keenly to next year's event.

First ever quiz night at the Beach Club

On 13th October, the first ever quiz night was held at the Dunas Douradas BeachClub. 

The event was a special quiz for owners, with a theme of “How much do you know about the Beach Club, the Algarve and Portugal”.  About 70% of the questions were theme related, with a particularly difficult general knowledge round at the end to test the best.

A small but enthusiastic group of owners took part, giving a thrilling competition between two good-spirited rival teams.  The photograph above, taken at the end of the competition, shows that the rivalry did not come between the great friendship that exists among them.

The experiment showed that the Beach Club is an excellent location for a quiz evening event and it is hoped that it will be repeated again in the future.

Dunas Douradas Beach Club wins at World Travel Awards

Dunas Douradas Beach Club triumphs with top honours at the 19th World Travel Awards ceremony, held at the new Conrad Algarve on Saturday 6th October 2012

A packed delegation of VIPs, senior tourism figures and international media travelled from 35 nations to attend the event, which was held in partnership with Conrad Algarve and Turismo do Algarve

It was an evening of sweet success for tourism related businesses across the Algarve, and indeed for the Algarve itself (Europe's Leading Beach Destination) and Portugal as a whole (Europe's Leading Golf Destination) fending off strong competition from other European contenders.
